Lower Galilee, Jerusalem
Jerusalem will be our goal today. But, we will make a few stops along the way. Our bus will take us first to Beit Shean, set in a valley ringed with dramatic mountain terrain. We will stroll through the past grandeur of Roman ruins, a central colonnaded street, public baths, a theater, a basilica, a Roman temple, stores, and workshops.
Our bus will escort us to the top of Mount Gilboa for teaching and reflection on the heated Philistine battle which claimed the lives of Saul and Jonathan here. Between the trees, we will glimpse the awe-inspiring Sea of Galilee and the Jezreel Valley below.
At the foot of Mount Gilboa is Gideon’s Spring where the army of Israel was tested before their battle with the Midianites.
As we arrive in Jerusalem, the City of God, we will pause at the Haus Promenade for prayer and praise. We will all join in the shehecheyanu, a special thanksgiving prayer. Afterward, we check into the Prima Kings Hotel for six nights – just a short walk from the Old City, Mamilla Mall, Ben Yehuda shopping district, and the Machane Yehuda Market.
Before dinner, we will immerse in the joy at the Western Wall, where hundreds of worshippers are praying and dancing to welcome in the Sabbath during Kabbalat Shabbat. This staggeringly beautiful tradition will be the highlight of our trip. Returning to the Prima Kings, we will exchange our travel clothes for dinner clothes and enjoy a blessed and lavish Sabbath meal.
